Jakarta (ANTARA) - Lagu "Lonely This Christmas" dibawakan oleh grup musik rock Mud yang dipimpin vokalis Les Gray pada 1974 bercerita tentang kesedihan seseorang yang ditinggal oleh pasangannya menjelang natal.
Lagu rock melankolis itu ditulis oleh Nicky Chinn dan Mike Chapman.
Meskipun Mud lebih dikenal dengan lagu-lagu rock-nya seperti "Dyna-mite" dan "Tiger Feet", "Lonely This Christmas" justru menjadi hit terbesar mereka selanjutnya yang berhasil menduduki posisi satu di tangga lagu Inggris.

Cerita dalam lagu itu menunjukkan suasana yang sama dengan lagu natal "Blue Christmas" yang dikover oleh Elvis Presley dan dirilis pada 1957 lewat albumnya bertajuk "Elvis' Christmas Album".
