Jakarta (ANTARA) - Lagu Ava Max berjudul "Christmas Without You" yang ia tulis dan produksi bersama sejumlah kolaborator, di antaranya Gian Stohe, Cirkut, Sam Martin, dan Jesse Aicher dirilis pada 15 Oktober 2020.
Proses produksi lagu bermusik pop dansa itu melibatkan sejumlah musisi profesional, di antaranya Kurt Thum pada kibor, Mark Schick pada gitar, Yasmeen pada instrumen senar, dan Rafael Fadul pada rekayasa audio, dengan Serban Ghenea bertindak sebagai pencampur musik.
Lagu itu mengekspresikan kerinduan seseorang untuk bertemu pasangannya dan merayakan Natal dengan sukacita, seakan hari sakral itu tidak akan lengkap jika mereka tidak bertemu.
Meskipun tidak diungkap mengenai tanggal rilis album baru, Ava Max melepas lagu "Christmas Without You" ke kanal YouTube-nya sembari mempromosikan album debutnya tahun 2020, "Heaven & Hell" yang diproduseri oleh Cirkut juga.
Ava Max kemudian mengunggah video musik untuk lagu "Christmas Without You" ke YouTube pada 18 Desember 2020 dan mengumpulkan lebih dari 9,4 juta penonton untuk kanal YouTube-nya, @avamax.
Dalam video itu, Max tampak bergaun merah Natal yang kontras dengan latar belakang musim dingin bersalju dan pohon memutih di belakangnya. Setelah merilis video, lagu natal Max pun memasuki tangga lagu "UK Singles Chart" untuk pertama kalinya.
Grup idol pop Korea Selatan BabyMonster telah meng-kover lagu "Christmas Without You" pada 19 Desember 2023, menyusul salah seorang anggota grup penyanyi wanita Twice, Tzuyu, yang telah membuat lagu kover itu pada 21 Desember 2022.
